How Do I Become An Agent?

Real Estate is a very special career choice! On the one hand, you have the scheduling flexibility that comes with being self employed. On the other hand, that schedule may change at short notice, as new listings come on the market, a customer calls to say they're in town, or an issue comes up with a building inspection that needs immediate attention. As the owner of your own "business within a business," you have the satisfaction of knowing that your income is related to the effort you put into it, although luck and circumstance play a role as well.

If you believe that variety is the spice of life, you'll love the fact that no day is the same as another. You may be showing lakefront homes one day, tromping through the woods the next day, and spending the third day in research online or with county officials. You'll return phone calls, catch up on paperwork, attend education classes, and prepare marketing plans.

But for a great real estate agent, the greatest reward is knowing that your expertise and experience helped guide a client through a complex and life changing transaction. You're an educator, a counselor, a matchmaker, and a negotiator.
